Folk tales
Welcome, today´s lesson is called “Folk tales”. Do you remember what a folk tale is?
A folk tale is a fictive story retold oral from generation to generation.
But this is not really what this class will be about. This class will rather be about basic elements of literature. Literature can be nearly any form of written or spoken material.
Let´s see what Mr. John Sutherland, author of ‘A Little History of Literature’ has to say about literature.
What do you think about literature? Do you like to read? To be honest, I don´t rally read fictive literature, no folk tales, no novels. Usually I read non-fiction or specialized books, documents and articles. And they are a form of literature too. So if people talk about literature remember literature does not always mean big, old books.
But let me explain, why we are talking about this. If you asked people who are good writers about their hobbies, many of them might tell you that they like to reed in their free time. And that´s a fact, people who read a lot have much better writing skills as well then people who don´t rad a lot.
So if you read you will not just improve your reading skills, you will also acquire new vocabulary, grammar structures, and you will improve your writing skills.
Well now it´s time for some questions and after this for the class.
